So, some time back, before deciding to go with a MacMiniServer for steamcon, I'd bought a ConvoyXL 2.5" drive array. This was going to be the main system drive. You put in two 2.5" SATA drives, and it'll do Raid1 internally and present as a single SATA drive, in a 3.5" form factor. Since I ended up not using it, it's just been sitting around on a shelf gathering dust. It's got two 250gb drives in it.

In my amazon order that just arrived was a dual-bay SATA drive dock. I want to get away from using and eventually get rid of the WD MyBook drives I've got laying around. While they're connected, I need to have the computer reboot itself automatically once a day or things start randomly going Weird. I've never been able to track down the cause, so I'd rather just get rid of them entirely. BUT, I'm using one right now to hold a bunch of files I need to have at hand (until they finish seeding, anyway). So, I got the dock on the idea that I can just have a bunch of drives laying around for this sort of purpose. I'll buy some cases for them later.

I went out and picked up a couple of 2TB drives, and have started the long process of moving everything over to them. But in the meantime, I happened to look over and see the little Convoy. And I looked at the back. And sure enough, it not only has a sata connection, it's arranged /just like/ a real sata hard drive. So, what the hell, I plugged it into the dock. It fit. It worked.

So I had, for a minute there, a dual-bay sata drive dock containing a dual-bay sata drive dock. If I bought another one, I could have /four/ little sata drives. It would be adorable.

Useless, but adorable.

I should figure out something useful to do with the Convoy and it's drives.
