So, today beaq and I went down to Portland. I got it into my head that I had a craving for LJS, and the nearest one is outside of Portland (there are three, actually). Driving three hours to get batter-dipped deep-fried fish-like food substitute is really dumb, but damnit I was gonna do it. Figured I'd hit Powell's while I was there, to make the trip a little less unreasonable. beaq decided she wanted to come with me. So, this morning we set off. Got to Powell's, and bought a bunch of stuff I didn't need. Went to Powell's Tech, and bought more stuff, which I needed less but wanted more. Then we went up to the rose garden to look at mountains. On the way out, saw a couple of really cool houses, one of which was, I swear to god, a giant stone castle. Then on to LJS. Had dinner, bought a couple of boxes of spare fish and chicken, and drove home via a less usual route in order to avoid rush hour in portland. Went thru St Helens and across the Lewis and Clark Bridge for the first time in my life. I don't like that bridge. WAY too high and narrow for my taste, tyvm.
Hit a fair amount of fog on the way back, including one patch that was enough to have me slowing down to the speed limit and considering slowing even further. But it cleared up after a quarter mile or so. It's not fun to go from decent visibility to almost /NO/ visibility in the space of 5 seconds, especially when there's a large semi next to you. Rather uneventful trip other than that.
With luck, beaq will have a more interesting story of it.
