And here's the tools engineer position:

This employee will collaborate in the design and construction of internal tools for PopCap Games in a Windows/Linux environment.

  • Collaborate with other departments for tool design and scheduling.
  • Convert business needs and tool requirements into engineering tasks.
  • Create clean user interfaces, applications, and databases.
  • Strong scheduling and organizational skills, with the ability to accurately estimate duration of proposed engineering tasks.
  • Write well documented code to achieve all defined engineering tasks.
  • An ongoing interaction with QA for troubleshooting and generating bug fixes.

  • 3+ years experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
  • 2+ years experience with C++ or other programming languages.
  • 2+ years working with versioning systems (CVS, SVN …).
  • Requires knowledge of web services, content management systems, and database design.
  • Windows application development a plus.
  • Bachelor of Science Required.

Here’s what’s in it for you:
  • An exciting, fun, start-up culture with offices in downtown Seattle.
  • The chance to be part of a growing company that is one of the most well-known names in the casual gaming industry.
  • Terrific benefits, including health, dental, vision, 401k, bonuses and stock options.

  • They left out 'ability to tolerate rampant (and loud) insanity' under Qualifications. Don't forget, you'd be working with me.
Also, 'Love of plush germs and eldergods a plus'.

More concretely: I've got a bunch of stuff on my plate, including building an intranet from the ground up, with a heavy initial emphasis on HR tools, and a brand new customer relationship management system. I work fairly independently, dealing directly with the people I need to deal with to get my projects done and reporting back to my boss just to keep him in the loop as to what I'm working on, how things are going, and whether I'm having any problems. Generally speaking, if I need something I get it, or there's a reasonable reason I don't. I haven't managed to convince them that I need a Lexus RX400h for business purposes yet, but I'm still working on it. The environment is fun and relaxed.

And, you get to play games while they're still under development. Just wait until you see REDACTED and REDACTED! They're hella fun!
