It's currently sitting on top of the subwoofer. From the dining room, it looks like the old tv looks from my normal seat.
At present, I have no HD sources. The Tivo is feeding into an aux composite-in port. It When watching letterboxed programs, zoom1 works fairly well. It cuts off the top and bottom, but there usually isn't too much of import in those spaces. We watched Stargate that way. (BTW, 200th episode? omg, so evil. we almost died.) The tivo Now Playing list, in 16:9 mode is.. impressively large.
I need to see what it'll cost to get HD-capable directv receivers. I think I'll go do that now.
I should go see what HD encoder cards are running these days. With the loss of lifetime subscriptions, I don't really wanna upgrade to an HD Tivo. I think I'd rather build a mythtv box or something similar. Anybody know a good place to buy hardware encoder cards?
