Book of Marty

2 Aug '16

Once upon a time, there was a house. We came across is randomly, and when we weren't actively looking to move. Walked in to an open house, and I thought I loved it. It was awesome. It was expensive, but less so than I thought it could be given the location, the view, the size. I called it Escheric House, because of all the stairs. I had /dreams/ of living in this house. I mean that literally: on multiple occasions, as I slept, I had dreams that involved living there.

On Sunday, Mickey and Ogre and I looked at an open house in Edmonds. Loree's been calling it the Barn House. I think we're all in love with it. It puts the Escheric House to shame, in terms of how perfect it is for us. It's not /just impressive/, like Escheric was. Escheric would have been good for throwing parties. Wouldn't necessarily have been great for actually living in. This place, this is perfect for both. It's big, but not too big. It's got a ridiculous amount of space in usable rooms, instead of broken into too few giant rooms or too many tiny rooms. It's got a big basement, which will be perfect for both a tv room and my office. It's got tons of parking, which will be good for the four of us plus loree's mom, plus parties. It's got good entertaining spaces AND good living spaces, which isn't a combination we've seen much of. It's reasonably priced. It's in a great location.

It is, in short, perfect in every way.

With the surprising-to-nobody failure of the sell-to-the-investors option, and the improbability of the win-the-lottery option, we are going to see if we can try to a) sell this place as fast as possible and b) find a way to make an offer that trades money for time. It's just a question of convincing the owner - via his broker - that we have a chance of making it happen. And then actually making it happen.

I expect to be very very depressed in the short to midterm future.
