So, today [info]loree and I:
1) Got gas
2) Went to Sawdust Supply. Their website lies about their saturday hours, they're closed.
3) Went to a specialty bathtub store, got the sales pitch, drooled at an awesome shower unit.
4) Went to Cash 'n' Carry for cherry syrup.
5) Went to the hardware store for automatic watering timers
6) Went to Costco for dogfood and drugs.

All of that was accomplished in less than 2 hours, ~1p to 245.

7) Went to Zippy's for lunch. I hadn't actually /been/ since they moved. Very sad for me.
7.5) Sat and watched some TV while cooling down.

8) Did a lot of plumbing work on the yard. The roses will now be automagically watered every morning before dawn, and the plants on the front porch are kinda sorta almost set up for a drip irrigator, tho it doesn't work very well and we'll probably replace it with something else. That took something like 3-4 hours.

We are tired and sore. But at least the roses should survive.

We're pondering a bathroom remodel, with a walk-in shower and a soaking tub.

Why do your roses need water?
I never water my roses and I live in the desert.
Maybe you have a different type.

We've got, uh, four different varieties, all planted this season, all on the south side of the house.

They're mostly rugosas and... something else whose name escapes me, because I like smelly roses with pretty foliage better than fancy flowers with no smell on stringy bushes.

We just planted them, and the soil sucks there. Also, we don't get any rain this time of year, they're on the south side of the house, and there's a french drain underneath where they're planted -- all guaranteeing that the flower bed won't stay moist until the autumn rains start. Once they're established they'll do well on benign neglect, so long as we can keep them from getting black spot like the non-smelly roses that were there before.

All I did on Saturday was Clean my room, make lip balm (some spicy and some minty), and finish a batch of soap. I feel like a slacker now.
