So, you know SEOmoz, that company I've been working for the past year, that finally hired me on perm? We're hiring. Like mad. My boss is spending most of her days locked in a little conference room doing phone screens. We're looking for both programmers and other things.

It's a cool environment, cool people, good parties, they feed us regularly (but not /too/ regularly). The office is a little bright for my taste (the lights are off, but the windows are huge), but most non-cavedwellers would like it.

If you want to apply, especially for one of the software engineer spots, I would encourage you to use this link, as I (should) get credit for the referral.

And, of course, I'm happy to answer questions about the place, if you're interested.

Hey, will you refer me for a position, even if I am not a high and mighty programmer?

Of course. Like I say, use the link, and it should attach my email as the referrer. Which job are you interested in?

Community attache I think was the job title.

I know I can do it, it's just they aren't real solid on what requirements or prereq's they're looking for.

I forwarded this on to a friend of mine ([info]sonatine), who is interested in one of the (non-dev) positions. She has a few questions, though, so, well, referring her here. }:D

I find it bizarre that you are one of two people I actually know there, who are not on their page listing "the mozzers" or whatever (the other is Tom McElroy, who I went to college with).

For the record, I failed their phone screen for engineering. Kinda. Is Kate your boss? She screened me, and -- I still can't quite believe this -- wanted to talk to me about hiring me part-time as a phone screener. Like, "you're not good enough to be an engineer for us, but we think you'd be clever and witty and technical and engaging enough to find us people who are good enough." Very odd. Thing is, it was right before I accepted this consulting gig with Tagged, and I simply have zero free time right now.

Yeah, when Jason added himself I thought he was going to add me too, but he didn't. I need to go in and add myself one of these days when I have some free time. Probably a similar thing with Thomas. Maybe I'll assign a ticket to Casey, make him do it.

Yeah, Kate's my boss. VP of Engineering, all the devs report direct to her. And yeah, that is a little weird. Tho, I know she /could/ use someone to take over screening; she's been spending her days locked in Thunderdome doing screens.

Well hello there. The customer service expert position looks like something I would be qualified for, but I have a few questions (in no particular order) first.

1. How's the coffee? I find company regard for employees is highly correlated with coffee quality.

2. I have a technical background but no experience with SEO. Will this be a problem or is it something I can pick up on the job?

3. TAGFEE. Are they super-into parroting their guiding principles? Will there be brand dances like at a previous company?

4. I know pay is dependent on experience and all that fun stuff, but do you know what a reasonable ballpark might be?

1) No clue. I hate coffee. But, there are at least two coffee makers, including one of those weird single-cup things.

2) I doubt it would be a problem, tho I'm less sure in customer service than in development.

3) There has been very little dancing thus far. Tho, the threat of a prom-themed party had me considering mutiny.

4) Not for that position. I could ask, tho.

If you would that would be fantastic. Thanks!

i think customer service is hourly in the $20-25/hour range (but it could be less)"
